‌Bearing adapter sleeve‌ is a component used for precise positioning of bearings on cylindrical shafts. It has a design with a tapered hole and is suitable for smooth shafts and stepped shafts. Its main function is to tighten the bearing by tightening the round nut to achieve precise positioning of the bearing on the shaft and simplify the disassembly process‌


Structural Composition

Bearing adapter sleeves are usually composed of parts such as adapter sleeves, locking nuts, locking washers (or locking cards). Adapter sleeves with locking nuts and locking washers can only be interchanged as a whole set, and spare parts from different sources cannot be interchanged‌


The main functions of the adapter sleeve include:

1. Fixing bearings: The adapter sleeve can be used to fix the tapered bore self-aligning bearing (such as self-aligning ball bearings and self-aligning roller bearings) on the shaft without a shoulder, and the axial positioning of the bearing is achieved through the cooperation between its inner tapered hole and the tapered surface of the shaft.

2. Transmitting torque: The adapter sleeve can be used as a mechanical part to transmit torque so that the shaft can rotate.

3. Improving transmission efficiency: The design of the adapter sleeve helps to transfer the load borne by the bearing to the adapter sleeve, thereby reducing the force on the bearing and improving the transmission efficiency.

4. Convenient bearing installation and removal: The design of the adapter sleeve makes the installation and removal of the bearing relatively simple, and no other device is required to fix it. At the same time, when used with a step ring on a stepped shaft, the bearing can be fixed more accurately at a given position on the shaft, and it is also convenient for the withdrawal of the bearing.
