The turntable bearing is a large bearing with a special structure that can withstand large axial loads, radial loads, overturning moments and other comprehensive loads at the same time, and integrates multiple functions such as support, rotation, transmission, and fixation. Therefore, when installing the turntable bearing, we must do a good job of relevant inspections, or matters that need to be paid attention to during installation. For this kind of large bearing, we must do a good job of maintenance and storage to prevent the turntable bearing from being damaged as follows, resulting in failure to use normally.

Installation of turntable bearings

Before installing the turntable bearing, the installation surface of the main engine must be checked first. The support parts should have sufficient strength, the connection surface should be machined, and the surface should be flat and free of debris and burrs. For those that cannot be machined to achieve the required flatness, special plastics with high injection strength can be used as fillers to ensure the accuracy of the installation plane and to reduce vibration. The ring of the turntable bearing has a quenched soft belt area, which is marked “S” on the end face of the ring. When installing, the soft belt should be placed in the non-load area or non-frequent load area (the plug hole is always located at the soft belt).
When installing the turntable bearing, radial positioning should be performed first, the mounting bolts should be tightened crosswise, and the rotation of the bearing should be checked. There should be sufficient preload when tightening the bolts, and the preload should be 70% of the yield limit of the bolt material. The mounting bolts should be equipped with tempered flat washers and spring washers are strictly prohibited.

Maintenance of turntable bearings

After the turntable bearings that have been installed and put into operation have been in continuous operation for 100 hours, the preload torque of the mounting bolts should be fully checked to see if it meets the requirements. The above inspection should be repeated every 500 hours of continuous operation. After the turntable bearings are installed, an appropriate amount of grease should be filled, and the bearings should be rotated while filling to ensure that the grease is evenly distributed. After working for a period of time, the turntable bearings will inevitably lose some grease, so the turntable bearings in normal operation should be replenished with grease every 50 to 100 hours.

Transportation and storage of turntable bearings

During transportation, the bearings should be placed horizontally on the vehicle, and measures should be taken to prevent sliding and vibration, and auxiliary supports should be added if necessary.
