The main reasons for cracks in bearings are as follows:

  1. Damage cracks: improper installation and disassembly of bearings, no necessary tools and auxiliary tools during the installation of bearings, direct hitting of bearings with hammers and other tools, excessive force or uneven hitting force will cause cracks or damage to the end faces, flanges and other parts of the bearings.
  2. Fatigue cracks: poor contact between the journal and the inner hole of the bearing, the bearing seat and the outer cylindrical surface of the bearing during installation, and uneven contact between the force-bearing parts of the raceway, which will cause cracks in the bearing rings or rolling elements.
  3. Hard and brittle cracks; this type of crack is caused by poor quality of the bearing during the manufacturing process, internal defects of the material, and excessive hardness of the heat treatment.
  4. Vibration cracks: cracks caused by large impact loads on the bearing during use. The rings and rolling elements of rolling bearings are generally made of high-carbon chromium bearing steel. The hardness of the rings and rolling elements is relatively high. Although they can withstand large impact loads, excessive impact loads will cause the bearings to vibrate violently during operation, causing damage and bearing cracks.
