(1) Extremely low viscosity and friction. According to fluid mechanics, the viscosity of gas is only one thousandth of that of lubricating oil, so its friction is also relatively low. Generally, its friction and the heat and temperature rise it brings are often ignored in engineering applications. At the same time, it can be used in low-speed motion without causing creeping.
(2) High precision and good precision retention. Gas has better compressibility than lubricating oil, and can evenly compensate for the machining errors on the surface of parts, so that the working error of gas bearings or guide rails is only about one-fourth of the machining error.
(3) Good adaptability to the working environment. Since temperature has little effect on the viscosity of gas, the working temperature range of gas-lubricated bearings is much wider than that of ordinary bearings. It can be said that the working temperature range of gas-lubricated bearings depends on the temperature that the bearing material can withstand. The lubricating medium used in gas-lubricated bearings is gas, which will not cause pollution to the equipment and working environment during use. It is particularly important in nuclear reaction auxiliary equipment and medical equipment.
(4) Good working stability. Gas-lubricated bearings have basically no wear or very little wear during use, so their maintenance work is reduced. It is a certain help to the stability of the entire system.
